Dr. S M Mustafizur Rahman is a development expert with an MBBS, MPH and M. Phil degree. He also attended a diploma course (ICFSN) from the University of Ghent, Belgium and studied nutrition at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was the Director (DGHS) and Line Director of the National Nutrition Services (NNS), Institute of Public Health and Nutrition (IPHN), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of nutrition planning, implementation, advocacy and social mobilization, management, training, monitoring, and evaluation at national and international levels. He worked as a member of the Program Preparation Cell (PPC) to develop Health, Population, and Nutrition Sector Development Program (HPNSDP 2011-2016) for Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He also served SUN (Scaling Up Nutrition) by supporting the Focal Point of Bangladesh.
Prior to joining his current position at IPHN, he has served a major role in National Nutrition Program (NNP), he also worked as Assistant Director and Program Manager at IPHN, Deputy Civil Surgeon in Tangail district, and as Country Director in Nutrition International (NI).
Dr. Rahman works closely with the other nutrition stakeholders including national and international NGOs, UN agencies in research, training, and advocacy as a national Public Health & Nutrition Leader. He has several papers published in international journals and books.
