Abu Torab M A Rahim, PhD, the professor of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Dhaka is well-known as a nutrition and food scientist of Bangladesh with more than 35 years research works.
He has a wide level of experience in areas of food compositional analysis, carbohydrate biochemistry and functionality, food perception and behaviour, food security, nutritional epidemiology, nutritional biochemistry, nutrition-health interaction, immunology, standardization of functionality methods, etc.
Dr. Torab has designed and led the research projects including i.) HPLC identification of polyphenols in local cereals and pseudograins, ii) Compilation, and Updating the INFS’s Food Composition Table (FCT for Bangladesh 2013); iii) Development of a Computerized National Food Composition Databank, iv) Pre- and post-cook nutrient analysis of Bangladeshi homemade foods and dishes, and v) NGOs’ Micro-credit Programmes for Poverty Alleviation: An Evaluation through Nutrition Indicators.
