As a public health and nutrition professional, Dr. Zeba Mahmud has more than 35 years’ experience of working in national health and nutrition services of Bangladesh at different levels including sub-district, district and national. She has the working experiences at both policy/strategy and implementation level and her career started with serving the Government of Bangladesh for more than 10 years.
Dr. Zeba worked in various managerial capacities within BRAC and was responsible for guiding all nutritional activities as key partner of the Government of Bangladesh’s Integrated National Nutrition Project. She was a member of the BRAC Womens’ Advisory Council. She served a number of international organizations as the Country Manager/Director (Alive & Thrive, Micronutrient Initiative) and the Director of Nutrition at the James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University.
Dr. Zeba has intensive engagement at national level policy, strategy, and plan formulation on Nutrition and worked in collaboration with diverse government departments/ministries, UN agencies, and professional associations including Bangladesh Paediatrics Association, Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Bangladesh etc.
Dr. Zeba's impressive academic journey includes earning medical degree followed by obtaining Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from University of Dhaka. She has published and presented a good number of papers in national and international seminars and workshops and travelled to nearly 100 countries for official purpose.
